Pennsylvania colleges known for an excellent English program?

I am currently a senior in high school and I’m starting to look at schools. I want to major in English. Are there any really, really good college/universities in PA with a reputation for a great English program? I’ve been searching the internet and I’ve spoken to some of my teachers, does anyone else have any input?

I’m not talking Ivy League, here, but I’d like to find a good place. I have a 3.7 GPA, a 1090 on my SATs, and I’m 7th in my class. I expect to get into a good school, but I’m no Harvard material.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks!

How Significant is an Ebay Buyers Reputation

As a buyer, the most important thing that people will learn about you is your eBay buyers reputation (or “feedback rating”). This feedback will help them to decide whether or not they can trust you.

Whenever you buy or sell anything on eBay, people can leave you feedback and you do the same for them. The feedback is either positive, neutral or negative. Your total feedback is calculated subtracting the number of negative comments from the positive. Simply put, if you have 20 positive ratings and 1 negative one, your total feedback rating will be 19.

If you are a considerate buyer, you will find that you will easily receive positive feedback from others, and you won’t even need to do anything. However, if you would like to help things along a little, there are several things you can do.

1. Leave Feedback For Others

People often feel obligated to leave you feedback if you leave it for them first. (You can expect an email from eBay giving you this opportunity following each transition). I know that sometimes our lives get busy, but make the time to write positive feedback for the seller if they deserve it and they will likely do the same for you. It will only take a few minutes.

2. Pay Promptly

Sellers love it if they are paid immediately following a sale; it saves on all sorts of worry. In most cases, positive feedback will appear for you within minutes of paying if you pay right away.

3. Don’t Be a Difficult Customer

Sellers sometimes will take a day or two to respond to you, and maybe another few days before they can get the item sent. Harassing them is really not necessary; you are only being nasty and will not get any good feedback.

4. Build Relationships

When a seller sells a variety of other things that you like in their store or on eBay, consider buying from them again. Sellers like to have regular customers and will leave you positive feedback such as ” as usual, a joy to deal with”. They may even have a few special deals that they will offer you.

Generally, sellers are not reluctant to sell to you if you do not yet have much of a eBay buyers reputation, after all, as the seller he is the one taking on the majority of the risk here.

But the thing that you want to keep in mind is, whether you are the buyer or the seller, each time you receive positive or negative feedback it will be counted towards your total feedback rating. So, if someday you decide to sell, you will already have good feedback and the customer is more inclined to trust you and buy from you. It pays to be a good buyer.

Sfhort Story-reputation of My State

Reputation of My State

I alongwith my wife were passing through Bihar side. The train had lost its speed and that had been the reason, it could not get clearances and at that time it was stopping outside the signals. Some youths were coming in the compartment with Cucumbers (Kheeras) and Coagulant (jaman). Since it was very hot outside, we both were enjoying these two fruits. At every outstation stoppages we were having these two items and finished the same till the next station or outside signal. Both these items were of very good quality and tasty and at time I had been commenting upon their quality. A young man having his seat across us on the upper seat. At this juncture, he was sitting and had been having talks with us.

This young man was a research scholar at Mumbai. I had been to Nanded and therefore, I started telling him that the land in Nanded is sandy and that is the reason it is not fertile. Since this young man was a research scholar in soil conservation, I suggested that he should come out with a proposal that fertile earth from Punjab and Haryana side should be brought to this side and spread on the earth of Nande side. A very small portion of this fertile earth shall turn the earth of that area fertile. “The young man laughed away on my proposal, but did not stop and we continued with the talks on different subjects.

At one outstation a boy have us goods of about rupees three and I handed over a currency note of rupee ten. He assured me that he would be coming back with the balance and shall be returning me the balances. When he went away, that young man commented,

“Sardarji, this boy would not come back. Your money is lost.”

Since the amount was very meager, I said,

“I would lose a sum of rupees seven. But with the loss of this money I shall know much about the people of Bihar. They can go down to such an extent. It shall become a part of my life and I shall be advising people who shall be coming to Bihar especially having a pilgrimage to Patna Sahib- the birth place of Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs.”

We finished our purchases and I closed down my eyes. I did not know when that young man left the train, went outside and came back with that boy who was to pay us the balances. He was standing with the boy outside our window. He asked the boy to give us the balances. He handed over me the money and the train started once again. That youth had come back and had occupied his seat.

When the train was in motion, I said, “You young man took so much trouble to locate this fellow. What was the necessity. I never requested you to work for this small amount. Sometimes in pilgrimages, people have to suffer such losses.”

“Sir, this is not the question of a sum of rupees seven only. I belong to Bihar. Your honour had said that this loss shall enable you to assess the character of the people of this area. I did not want that you return with this impression that here people can deceive only for a sum of rupees seven only. I never wanted that my state should get this impression in your mind and heart. Since you are a writer, you would give this event a wide circulation and the whole population of Bihar would face this humiliation. I did not like this. I could not tolerate all this and that had been the reason of my going down and brining this boy to you. I had already delivered a long lecture before all these sales boys.”

I still remember this event.
